How MRA Has Impacted Our Teachers

I am incredibly honored and grateful to receive the $200 Diverse Classroom Books stipend. This support will help me expand my fourth-grade classroom library with diverse books that allow students to see themselves reflected in stories while also learning about perspectives beyond their own. These texts will support reading instruction, book clubs, independent reading, and writing throughout the year, helping every student feel seen, valued, and connected to reading. If possible, I am excited to receive a grant for Birchbark Books so I can intentionally select titles that highlight Indigenous authors and voices.

Thank you so much for this wonderful news that my class will receive a Diverse Library Stipend. I am truly honored and very grateful to the Minnesota Reading Association for supporting my classroom. Providing my students with culturally relevant and diverse books is something I care deeply about, and this stipend will help open even more doors for them to discover the joy of reading.
